Izakaya Night Vol. 4 – A One-Night Collaboration with Kikunosato Shuzo x Chef Hiroki Odo
Dear Valued Guests,
THE GALLERY by Odo is delighted to announce the fourth installment of our popular monthly "Izakaya Night" on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025.
"Izakaya Night" is a unique, one-night-only event where THE GALLERY by Odo curates a special selection of Japanese sakes and pairs them with original, one-day-only dishes crafted by Chef Hiroki Odo (Restaurant Odo) and his team. It's an exclusive opportunity to indulge in rare and exceptional sakes, alongside exquisite culinary creations featuring seasonal ingredients.
For the fourth "Izakaya Night", we are honored to welcome Mr. Makoto Akutsu (President) from Kikunosato Shuzo (founded in 1866) in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan.
Kikunosato Shuzo is a very small-scale brewery run by four people. Each year they produce only 400 koku, equivalent to a mere 40,000 1.8-liter bottles (and they are only operational between late October and early April).
At this event, Mr. Akutsu will personally introduce and serve their exquisite sakes in our restaurant.
(This event is NOT a ticketed event. All sake and food items are offered à la carte.)
On this special evening, you will have the opportunity to savor three exceptional sakes from Kikunosato Shuzo:
DAINA Junmai Ginjo Nasu Gohyakumangoku
Crafted with Gohyakumangoku rice polished to 55%, this is a refreshingly crisp dry sake with a delicate aroma reminiscent of apples. It features a youthful yet smooth acidity with a moderate fullness and smooth mouthfeel. The clean taste harmonizes with a slight bitterness reminiscent of citrus fruit that blends the flavors. This is a classic junmai ginjo sake that you can enjoy endlessly.
ARATANA Junmai Daiginjo
Polished to 17% and an alcohol content of 15%, this is a semi-sweet, floral aroma sake. Otawara in Tochigi Prefecture benefits from the high-quality subterranean water of Japan's largest alluvial fan spreading at the foot of the Nasu mountain range. Using the meticulously polished rice and pure water from this land, this sake is the product of Kikunosato's pursuit of the supreme sake brewing. With a clear, crisp taste and umami that unfolds with every sip, this sake evokes the pure and majestic landscape of Otawara, bringing new inspiration to those who drink it.
DAINA Chokara Junmai
This is an extra dry Junmai sake made with Gohyakumangoku rice, which is cultivated in Nasu highlands. The soft mouthfeel and exquisitely dry finish allow one to sense this sake's abundant umami, and it is enjoyable both warmed and chilled. Polished to 60%.
To complement these superb sakes, our chefs have specially created three exquisite pairing dishes for the evening:
Chutoro Iwanorori-ae
medium fatty tuna with Iwanori seaweed in sweet soy
Goma-ae
green beans and lotus roots with sesame vinegar dressing
Panko Fried Oyster
herb-mixed panko fried oyster with tartare sauce, shiso flower
Sudachi Soba
chilled house-made soba with sliced sudachi citrus
Wagyu Saikyoyaki
charcoal-grilled miso-marinated wagyu steak, ramp miso
Karasumi Mochi
housemade charcoal-grilled mullet roe in rice cake
Ikameshi
rice stuffed Japanese squid, sansho
Ham Katsu
panko-fried thick-cut ham, black truffle sauce
Atsugiri Gyutan
grilled thick-cut beef tongue skewer
…and more!
Don't miss this extraordinary opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of exceptional sake and refined cuisine! We eagerly await your visit.
