To celebrate the first English translation of Ryuichi Sakamoto’s autobiography, Music Sets You Free, THE GALLERY by Odo is honored to present a special exhibition celebrating the life and work of the legendary composer, musician, and artist..
Sakamoto shared a special connection with Chef Hiroki Odo during his time at Kajitsu. While he admired the beauty and refinement of Chef Odo’s cuisine, he found the restaurant’s music less to his taste. In response, Sakamoto offered a personal gift: a playlist he had created himself for the restaurant.
The playlist remained part of the restaurant’s atmosphere for months, before the story was featured in The New York Times and subsequently shared around the world.
That connection between Ryuichi Sakamoto and Chef Hiroki Odo continues to resonate today through the spaces and experiences Chef Odo has created in New York.
THE GALLERY by Odo is honored to continue this story and celebrate the first English edition of Sakamoto’s autobiography with a special exhibition.
