Experience the soul of Japan’s southernmost islands. This February, THE GALLERY by Odo is proud to partner with MOGMOG (NY) and OISHII MUN (Okinawa) to present OKINAWA FAIR 2026—a curated week-long celebration of Okinawan culture, culinary heritage, and master craftsmanship.
Okinawa is a land shaped by its unique history as the Ryukyu Kingdom. Its culture is a vibrant tapestry woven from maritime trade, a tropical climate, and the philosophy of Ishoku Dogen (医食同源)—the belief that food is medicine. But Okinawa is more than a tropical paradise; it is a cultural crossroads. As the former Ryukyu Kingdom, these islands developed a unique identity shaped by Japan, Southeast Asia, and most notably, China.
We invite you to explore this "Island of Longevity" through its bold flavors and tactile arts. Our culinary focus for this fair highlights the profound Chinese influence on Okinawan cuisine—a sophisticated blend of bold flavors and island techniques.
Opening Day: Ryukyu Reception & Glass Showcase
Monday, February 16 | 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Join us for a vibrant, standing-style reception to kick off the fair. Tickets: $70 (All-you-can-eat & drink)
Experience a festive spread of "Ryukyu-Chinese" favorites alongside an exclusive sales event of Ryukyu Glass. These hand-blown pieces, famous for their organic bubbles and sea-inspired colors, will be available for purchase to elevate your home collection.
The Opening Menu:
Sui-gyoza : pork dumpling in chicken soup
Ebi-Harumaki : shrimp spring roll
Mozuku Kimchi : mozuku seaweed, kimchi
Kushiage : white fish, squid
Ebi-chili : shrimp in sweet and spicy chili sauce
Char siu fried rice
Okinawa Soba : okinawa style soba noodle, pork char siu
The Special Ryukyu Course
Available Feb 17 – 21 | $75 per person
For the remainder of the week, immerse yourself in a dedicated tasting menu that tells the story of the Ryukyu Kingdom. This is not a ticketed event.
1st course
Carpaccio with scallion & ginger sauce
2nd Course (choice of one)
Kushiage : whitefish, squid
Ebi-Chilli : shrimp in sweet and spicy chili sauce
Kurozu-Karaage : fried chicken with black vinegar sauce
3rd course
Okinawa Soba : okinawa style soba noodle, pork char siu
Dessert
Kokuto softserve icecream : housemade soft serve with shaved okinawa brown sugar
Full a la carte menu (same as opening day) is also available during this period.
